The goal of any engagement session is to get some experience with your photographer so you can relax and trust them on your wedding day. But even more importantly, engagements allow you to slow down, put the planning aside, and focus on each other. I want you to look back at your photos and say, “Wow! These are exactly us!” so these sessions are a perfect opportunity to have some fun and revel in your love for a few hours before the wedding day.
Caitlin was kind enough to write these words about their engagement session and what it felt like:
Since we got engaged, life (as it usually does) has moved at a pretty fast pace. The intimate and fun moments we had during the picture taking process reminded me a lot of how it felt when Addison proposed. Of course, in normal day-to-day life, we interact and have date nights, but this was different and so special. It was like life, and everything around us, slowed down for a bit, and we were able to focus totally, and completely, on each other and revel in our love. It was the perfect way to relive our engagement but also look forward to the big day.
For me, the engagement pictures (process and result) have made the wedding feel even more real and exciting. Wedding planning can get overwhelming and, with the exception of dress shopping/fittings, tastings, and other trials, it can feel like a weird little puzzle. This day though, stands out as the most fun thing we have done to “prepare” for the wedding. The icing on top of the cake was that we got to work with you. You feel like a long time friend, and your energy really made us feel comfortable, at ease, and like ourselves. I’m going to treasure so many of the pictures that you shot because they perfectly capture the aspects of our relationship and playfulness that I love.
